"Het bijzondere van het alledaagse in pakkende beelden omzetten" 

"Je kunt op allerlei manieren tegen het leven aankijken. Dat fascineert me enorm. Heeft 't altijd al gedaan. Daarom heb ik ook voor fotografie gekozen. Als fotograaf kun je die veelzijdige kijk op het leven in de aantrekkelijkste en boeiendste vorm laten zien." 

"Welk standpunt neem je in? Welke afstand tot het onderwerp voel of kies je? Op welk tijdstip ga je de foto nemen? Welke rol speelt het licht? En niet te vergeten... welke invloed heeft je humeur als fotograaf of hebben de houding en uitstraling van de mensen die je fotografeert? Het blijft me bezighouden."   

"Ik ben begonnen als bedrijfsfotograaf en -filmer bij Holmatro, een bedrijf dat hydraulische gereedschappen en systeemoplossingen ontwikkelt. Ze worden wereldwijd gebruikt, onder meer voor reddingsoperaties. Daar heb ik alle ins and outs van het vak wel zo'n beetje onder de knie gekregen. Geleerd hoe je het bijzondere van het alledaagse in pakkende beelden kunt omzetten." 

"In 1989 was het tijd voor mijn eigen studio en sindsdien fotografeer ik voor communicatie- en designbureaus, multinationals en kleinere bedrijven maar zeker ook in opdracht van particulieren. Dat kan van alles zijn... advertising, stills, lifestyle of portretten, maar ook reportages en bijvoorbeeld interieurs. Ik werk graag op locatie, want daar heb je de meeste kans dat iets onverwachts of toevalligs extra mooie dingen oplevert. Als beeldmaker wil ik content maken voor bedrijven, instanties of personen. Door mij in te schakelen kan ik een wens zichtbaar maken èn beelden maken die effect hebben." 

"Moderne nabewerkingstechnieken zijn prachtig natuurlijk, door de creatieve mogelijkheden die ze bieden. Maar toch... ik heb nog steeds een passie voor zwart-wit en met name voor de authentieke materialen, zoals Polaroid 55. En ik probeer naast opdrachtfotografie nog genoeg tijd vrij te maken voor eigen werk. Bij opdrachten gaat het in de eerste plaats om creatief inleven, in mijn eigen werk kan ik me creatief iets vrijer uitleven."

What influence does your mood as a photographer have, or the attitude and appearance of the people you photograph? It continues to occupy me."   

"I started as a corporate photographer and filmmaker at Holmatro, a company that develops hydraulic tools and system solutions. They are used worldwide, including for rescue operations. That's where I learnt all the ins and outs of the trade. I learned how to transform the extraordinary in everyday life into gripping images. 

"In 1989 it was time for my own studio and since then I have been photographing for communication and design agencies, multinationals and smaller companies, but also for private individuals. That can be anything... Advertising, stills, lifestyle or portraits, but also reports and interiors for example. I like to work on location, because there you have the most chance that something unexpected or coincidental will result in something beautiful. As an image maker, I want to create content for companies, institutions or individuals. By engaging me, I can make a wish visible and create images that have an effect." 

"Modern post-processing techniques are wonderful, of course, because of the creative possibilities they offer. But still... I still have a passion for black and white and especially for the authentic materials, such as Polaroid 55. And I try to make enough time for my own work in addition to commissioned photography. With assignments it is primarily about creative empathy, in my own work I can indulge myself creatively a little more freely."
